From the Mind of Marvin Choi
...in all of its Glory...
"Usually, I say my excuse for writing “Rosewood” is that it was for a screenwriting course, but, really, I just wanted an
excuse to write stories about restaurants. Not necessarily the “hilarious” sexual adventures, foul language, and lack of
sanitation that so many people like to focus on, but about the type of people that end up in such places, why they are
there, and how they deal with working such a miserable job day after day. I essentially wanted to write my version of
“Tampopo”, contextually intertwining unusual set-pieces and vignettes to present the craft of professional line cooking
with dignity, grace, and a bit of self-reflexive humor."

Officially Excited
For Thank Me Later...
now i know that alot of people hate drake with such a passion... and thats totally fine with me because hes made some very interesting career moves over the past year and a half since since So Far Gone dropped... but in all honesty i dont simply like a rapper just cuz he can rap...hes supposed to... im a fan because at a certain point in my life that said rapper found me and i can honestly say that drakes music has crawled its way into my life from hearing faded for the first time to his new single Over... now his music is all over the radio and you cant turn that shit on without being bombarded with songs like best ive ever had...i loved talking to people who heard best i ever had on the radio and was like i love that song when in reality that is one hell of a raunchy ass track but radio edits made into something totally different... but in the end ill always remember driving to BEVMO with D and dai dai bout to buy a keg for a party and listening to drakes remix of Lykke Li's Little Bit and just sittting in silence at the sheer genius of that track(if you havent heard i suggest you do)so to all those that simply hate drake for being cookie cutter hiphop listen to his anthology and then get at me...
without further ado
the perfect video in my opinion for his first single OVER

Bombay the Hard Way
so apparently people generally dont like beats...its very sad because i find that in the beat is where most of the heart and soul of a song can be found... In todays mainstream media, music is so heavily laden with noise that we often times get desensitized to what actually makes a song awesome...i guess what im trying to say is the beats are dope
...so if you like beats... then your library has to have this

Kalyanji Anandji is the name of an Indian composer duo known for their work on Bollywood film soundtracks, particularly action potboilers in the 1970s. One glance at the cover artwork for this LP should be enough to give any music or film lover a head start on these sounds. In 1998, Dan the Automator(gorrilaz) collaborated with DJ Shadow to remix, re-title, and reintroduce this action packed eastern funk to a near-clueless western audience. Floating from jazzy windups to frenzied spy-flick jams, it’s a slick and concise rendering of a very specific intersection of geography and time. Imagine the best aspects of the greatest hollywood funk scores (Superfly, Coffy, Shaft, etc) reinterpreted by bollywood composers, and processed though a modern hip hop sensibility.
